This lovely book has not yet been road tested as it is far too nice to send to Santa to get lost in the crowd. Unfortunately with the restrictions it may be a little while before it reaches our granddaughter.
It is a very well produced book with a charming easily readable text and great illustrations. Set in on theme of class room sharing and gentle adventure it is not frightening and easy to understand.
Highly recommended for early readers and listeners with a good imagination I can’t wait for a chance to give it to her.

I bought this book for a friend, whose grandson was having his 1st Birthday. I had already bought it for my own grandson and knew this book would be a perfect gift. My friend had read the book to both her grandchildren who thought the story was magical. I also bought the activity set for the older brother which was very much appreciated when his brother had his birthday presents to open. It was nice to be told my grandchildren’s names were included in the back of the book.

I couldn’t recommend this book and activity pack more as both an educational professional and a mother.
The story is brilliant as it works on many levels. It shows the main character starting a new school, which a child might relate to when starting school and can open up a discussion about how they might be feeling. The story is also based around characters that have links to different countries. This makes learning about countries and continents easier as it gives them a context.
The illustrations are also stunning and very engaging. My daughters absolutely love them.
Then finally the activity pack that you can purchase alongside the book is so thoughtful put together and has such a great deal of educational value.

Such a magical book that allowed my little one to explore his imagination, his passion for animals and help develop his knowledge and understanding of the world. I loved the premise of having a magical map. A central object helped him to hook on to the story. Having just turned three, his concept of ‘America’ is not yet there but it’s a book that will grow with him and aid his understanding of travel, cultures and the globe. He did however love identifying the animals and naming them. We loved sharing the story and look forward to further adventures!

The book caused my children and I to have a lot of conversations about where they would go if they had a magic map, and what they would do when they got there. I cannot recommend this book to you enough! Great for kids through age 9!!!

I am Nicny, I received this amazing adventurous story book about Alex the Alligator and his friend's Ms.Betsy Bee, Ms.Dilly Duck, and Mr.Felix Fox and their adventure to America via Alex's "Magic Map"! written by Sarah and Illustrated by Jo de. I missed my younger cousins so much, due to COVID I can't travel to see them. I ordered the same book and a set of activity pack to be delivered to my lovely cousin Riley 7 years old, and his brother 2 years old, so I can read it to them online! This is an amazing story book for kids! It is easy to read and each page is filled with amazing vibrant illustration! it brought so much smile and joy to me and my cousins, we would love to go for an adventure together all by ourselves!! How we wished we have a magic map too! I love you Sarah and Jo de!

I loved it. My four year old boy loved it! The story, the characters, illustrations and little thought behind such as the class! I absolutely loved the concept of class! The diversity and a class to incorporate the needs of various different (animal) students!
The story was so engaging for my little boy! The story takes you around the world with friends!
He was particularly excited by the magic map, personal letters, message signed by author and activity kit!
The activity kit is also super engaging and has many great activity and even little puppets!
The author, Sarah is such a wonderful and warm person. She added her personal touch to everything.
This is our first author signed book and we are going to cherish it forever!
Sarah, is a warm kind hearted person which is reflected in her story and her little gestures that really add so much value!
We loved every bit of it!

"Alex Alligator & Friends- The Magic Map" is such a sweet book. Not only is the story a fun-filled adventure, but the illustrations are so precious.
I bought this for my son and daughter, because we will be moving soon, and they too will have to make new friends. My six year old really loves the book. She said, "[It's] fun! I like the magic map you can jump into." The book also came with a bonus activity pack. It contained character stickers and a puppet making kit! My daughter had so much fun coloring and making the puppets. Each puppet (four total) is a character from the book. She spent a solid hour creating her own puppet shows with these characters. That's a big win in this mama's book!

This is a wonderful book full of exciting colourful characters brought to life through the wonderful illustrations of Jo de Ruiter. I bought the book for little people but couldn’t help turning the pages myself and discovering the adventures of Alex Alligator and Felix Fox etc. I loved it. So easy to read out loud and for children to lose themselves in different worlds and learning along the way. I almost kept it for myself.

nephew and niece who are son turning 4 so will be starting school this coming September. I didn't read right through the book but looked through and read a little. It looks to be an excellent book for this age and well suited to either a boy or girl. I hope they will be excited to get the next book in the series. They live in different cities so I thought it would be a nice thing to connect the two kids and their families.....

As a mom and teacher it is such a powerful tool that can be used to create conversation and encourage critical thinking and development on a range of topics from general knowledge to tougher emotional issues such as dealing with change. This is a lovely book that both my children enjoy reading. It is beautifully illustrated with some gorgeous little details. My 18 month old loves to listen to it and point to her favourite animals whilst my 5 year old loves the classroom page and can spend ages looking for the different animals and finding an animal for each letter of the alphabet. He is especially fascinated by the narwhal! We can’t wait to read more of these!!
